Purpose of the Project: Thirst Relief International's goal is to partner with Connect Africa to supply water purification and recycling system for the recently built Connect Africa Resource Center (CARC). Due to the drought and total crop failure in Kibwezi, Kenya there is a desperate need to fast track the completion of the resource center for long-term development of the surrounding communities.

The funds would also provide the capability to build bricks on site. At the centers, Connect Africa team members teach local leaders how to use sustainable technologies that in turn help raise local resident's standard of living and create sustainable communities. Each CARC serves as a working farm, water filter, and brick-making factory

Thirst Relief International, partnering with Connect Africa in Kibwezi, can offer resources and training to meet these desperate needs by providing long-term water storage, building a dry composting toilet that recycles urine and Humanure for use on the permaculture project without contaminants getting into the water source, and teach ISSB (Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks) brick-making technology to the community.

Kibwezi is in the Eastern Province of Kenya and is one of the least developed areas in Southeast Kenya. Approximately 200 km from Nairobi, Kibwezi is about 3,400 km2 in size with an estimated population of 170,000. Water is the most limited and critical need for the life of the families in Kibwezi.

Connect Africa is a Kenya/Ugandan faith-based organization whose purpose is to build relational bridges between tribal groups, countries, and the world and to provide local residents with appropriate technology and training to create sustainable communities.
